Yerevan may soon welcome internationally acclaimed Armenian-American artist Emil Kazaz (Emanuel Ghazazian) as part of a major youth-focused visual arts initiative set to take place in the city this fall.
Organized by the Yerevan Municipality, the “Yerevan as an Open Art Studio” project is scheduled for September–October and will carry the theme “Urban Movement.” The project is designed as an open-air platform for emerging artists, turning the city itself into a creative space.
Around 50 young artists, selected through a preliminary screening process, will simultaneously create artworks in public spaces, transforming Yerevan into a vibrant, living exhibition. In addition to live painting sessions, the project will include educational components, offering participants and the public opportunities to engage in workshops and discussions on contemporary art.
One of the highlights currently under discussion is the possible visit of Emil Kazaz, the Los Angeles-based master painter and sculptor known for his distinctive style that blends classical techniques with surreal and symbolic elements.
While his visit has not yet been confirmed, city officials are in talks to coordinate Kazaz’s participation in the event.
