Armenian PM offers condolences over India plane crash

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has offered condolences to his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi over the deadly plane crash in Ahmedabad.

“Deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passenger plane crash in Ahmedabad.
I express our sincere condolences to Narendra Modi and the friendly people of India,” PM Pashinyan said in a post on X.

“Our prayers are with all the victims, everyone effected and their families,” the Prime Minister said.

A London-bound Air India plane carrying 242 people crashes shortly after take-off in Ahmedabad, western India.

Flight AI171 was travelling from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick.

There were 169 Indian nationals, 53 Britons, seven Portuguese nationals and one Canadian on the flight, Air India says.

The plane crashed into accommodation used by doctors.

Ahmedabad’s police chief has said that 204 bodies have been recovered from the crash site.

It’s not known if those 204 were all on the plane, or were on the ground when the plane crashed.
