The Armenian genocide will forever be one of the darkest chapters in human history, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said in a statement.
“1.5 million Armenian people were murdered in these senseless atrocities, systematically planned and carried out by the Ottoman Empire. On the 110th Anniversary Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide, we honour those who lost their lives, and reflect on their stories so they are never forgotten,” Carney said.
