Armenian PM’s office denies claims on approval of LGBT parade in Yerevan

Claims circulating in the media space and on social networks alleging that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan approved the holding of an LGBT community parade in Yerevan on April 7 do not correspond to reality, Prime Minister’s Spokesperson Nazeli Baghdasaryan said.

According to the spokesperson, the circulated material bears features characteristic of foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI) and constitutes a component of hybrid influence campaigns.

Baghdasaryan noted that the author of the publication, Okay Deprem, has on multiple occasions previously disseminated unreliable and manipulative information regarding the state institutions of the Republic of Armenia, a fact that has been recorded by both Armenian and international expert communities.

She emphasized that the purpose of such publications is to provoke public polarization and undermine trust in state institutions ahead of electoral processes.
