Ukraine and Russia report overnight strikes as Zelensky welcomes changes to US peace plan

Ukraine’s capital Kyiv came under attack overnight, with at least two deaths reported, the BBC reports.

Ukraine also carried out strikes on Russia, where officials said three people were killed.

The latest air attacks come after days of intense talks over a US-backed plan for ending the war, which initially drew criticism from Kyiv and European leaders.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says that plan now contains “many of the right elements” after negotiations.

Further talks are planned in the coming days, and Sir Keir Starmer will host a virtual meeting of Ukraine’s allies later.
