Russia’s proposal to host the signing of a final peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan remains in force, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said during a reception marking Armenia’s Independence Day, RIA Novosti reports.
“Our proposal to provide a platform for the signing of a final peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan remains valid,” Galuzin stated. He emphasized that Moscow attaches great importance to the normalization of relations between the two neighboring countries.
“It is clear that serious work still lies ahead to put the plans into practice. We are ready to provide Yerevan and Baku with all the necessary assistance to overcome the remaining differences, including in the context of the trilateral statements by the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan,” Galuzin noted.
He underlined that Russia has played a significant and effective role in the process of resolving issues between Yerevan and Baku.
Armenia’s Ambassador to Moscow, Gurgen Arsenyan, also highlighted the contribution of Russian diplomacy to the peace process, describing it as “special.”
