Deputy Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Ruben Rubinyan and independent MP Gegham Nazaryan have drafted a bill proposing to designate January 27 as a “Day of Remembrance and Reverence” to honor the memory of all those who have fallen in military actions throughout history.
Rubinyan announced the initiative in a Facebook post, noting that Armenia needs a dedicated day to pay tribute to “all who have perished in military operations of all times” and to bow in respect before those who sacrificed their lives for the homeland.
According to the draft, January 27 would serve as a solemn day of commemoration, while January 28 would continue to be celebrated as Army Day, symbolizing the nation’s enduring strength and will to live.
The proposed legislation is expected to be circulated in the coming days for parliamentary consideration.
