Yerevan has no intention to change the format of its allied relations with Moscow, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said at a press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.
“Are we preparing to change the format of our allied relations with the Russian Federation? I want to say very bluntly: “No.” Our obligations and rights are clearly spelled out on paper, signed, ratified, and no one has cancelled them. At the same time, there are concerns in Armenia that the mechanisms have not always worked to the full extent, but that is a completely different matter,” Mirzoyan noted.
Minister Mirzoyan noted: “I confirm our readiness to continue effective political dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation in line with the interests of our peoples and states.”
The meeting of the Armenian and Russian Foreign Ministries was accompanied by protests in front of the Foreign Ministry. Protesters held signs reading “Killers” and featuring images of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
