Civil Contract will not have a Mayor in Gyumri, Martun Grigoryan says

Martun Grigoryan, the candidate for Mayor of Gyumri from Our City alliance, has announced that he will not cooperate with the Civil Contract party.
“Dear Gyumri residents, I reiterate what I said earlier – the Civil Contract will not have a mayor in Gyumri, that is for sure,” Grigoryan wrote on Facebook.
Communist Party’s mayoral candidate Vardan Ghukasyan, the runner-up in Gyumri’s municipal elections, earlier signaled his readiness to negotiate with opposition candidate Martun Grigoryan, who came in third.
The Mother Armenia party has confirmed its earlier willingness to give its votes to the opposition force with most votes in the Gyumri municipal elections.
Ruben Mkhitaryan, the candidate for Mayor from My Powerful Community party has announced he is ready to vote for Vardan Ghukasyan from the Communist Party, which came second after almost all ballots were processed.
The ruling Civil Contract party received 17,183 votes after all ballots were processed, according to the Central Electoral Commission. Sarik Minasyan is the party’s candidate for Mayor.
The Communist Party is the runner up with 9,727 votes.
Our City alliance led by Martun Grigoryan is third with 7,380 votes.
My Strong Community party, with Ruben Mkhitaryan as candidate for Mayor, came in 4th with 3,734 votes.
Mother Armenia alliance garnered 2,902 votes.
Euroalliance received 2,111 votes, Aprelu Yerkir party has 1,694 votes, Democratic Alternative and Armenia’s Workers Socialist Party collected 1,406 and 651 votes, respectively.
According to preliminary results from 81 out of 82 polling stations, five political forces have overcome the threshold – Civil Contract Party, Communist Party, Our City alliance, My Strong Community party and Mother Armenia alliance.
The electoral code stipulates that the threshold for local elections is 4% for parties and 6% for alliances.
Since no one garnered over 50% of votes, the political forces will have to form coalitions to be able to elect a Mayor.
The four opposition parties that will be represented in the City Council political had announced earlier that they would not form a coalition with Civil Contract.
