Independent film Anora swept the Oscars, winning five awards including best picture and best actress for lead star Mikey Madison.
“This is very surreal,” said Madison. At 25, this was her first Oscar nomination, while director Sean Baker makes history for winning four Oscars for the same film.
The film won five in total – best picture, best director, best actress, original screenplay and editing.
In one of the most unpredictable races in years, Adrien Brody won best actor for The Brutalist, Zoe Saldaña got best supporting actress for Emilia Pérez, and Kieran Culkin was named best supporting actor.
