Government to consider Regulation on the work of Armenian, Azerbaijani border commissions on September 5

During the regular sitting on September 5, the Armenian Government will discuss the Regulation on the joint work of border commissions of Armenia and Azerbaijan. The text was published on e-gov platform today.

The Armenian Foreign Ministry announced the signing of the Regulation on August 30.

The Regulations states that the commissions will rely on the Alma-Ata Declaration as a fundamental principle of the process of delimitation of the state border between the two countries. It is also noted that if the future agreement on the establishment of peace and interstate relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan provides for other regulations, then this fundamental principle will be adjusted to the principles defined by the agreement.

As stated in the published document, the Regulation implies organization of border demarcation works and adoption of relevant documents, preparation of the state border crossing protocol-description and guidelines for creation of delimitation maps.

It is noted that the Regulation and the documents adopted on its basis supplement the legal framework of the activity of the commissions, aimed at ensuring the normal course of demarcation and demarcation works.
