Azerbaijan’s decision to lift transit restrictions key step in advancing peace agenda, Armenia’s Deputy PM says

Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan has welcomed the statement by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev regarding the removal of restrictions on the transit of goods to Armenia.

Responding to a question from Armenpress, Grigoryan praised the efforts of his Azerbaijani and Kazakh counterparts in facilitating this development.

“I am pleased and welcome the decision of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to lift the restrictions on cargo transportation toward Armenia. This step is of great importance for the opening of regional communications, strengthening mutual trust, and advancing the peace agenda,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.

Grigoryan emphasized that such measures can significantly contribute to establishing lasting peace and cooperation in the South Caucasus.

Earlier, Prime Minister’s spokesperson Nazeli Baghdasaryan also welcomed the Azerbaijani President’s announcement, describing it as “a key step toward the opening of regional communications, the strengthening of mutual trust, and the institutionalization of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” in line with the agreements reached in Washington.
