Armenian Parliament strips opposition MPs Seyran Ohanyan and Artsvik Minasyan of immunity

Armenia’s National Assembly has voted to remove the parliamentary immunity of Seyran Ohanyan, leader of the opposition “Armenia” faction and former Defense Minister, and Artsvik Minasyan, the faction’s secretary and a former Environment Minister. The decision paves the way for their criminal prosecution.
According to the General Prosecutor’s Office, both lawmakers face charges in a case involving the alleged illegal acquisition of a land plot in the village of Drakhtik, Gegharkunik Province. The charges claim that Ohanyan used the resources of the Armenian Armed Forces to construct a private villa on the land, with Minasyan allegedly complicit in the process.
