
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who is in Berlin on a working visit, had a meeting with UEFA President Alexander Ceferin.
The interlocutors discussed issues related to the development of football in Armenia. Noting that the RA government attaches importance to the development of football and a healthy lifestyle in our country, Nikol Pashinyan noted that the state, in cooperation with the Football Federation of Armenia, is working on the improvement of infrastructure for this purpose.
The Prime Minister reminded that the federations of Armenia and Georgia have decided to apply to FIFA in order to jointly hold the World Youth Championship to be held in 2029.
The Prime Minister expressed hope that the joint application will be approved and added that the support of UEFA is also expected in this matter.
Alexander Ceferin noted that UEFA closely cooperates with FFA in favor of the development and progress of football in our country. He expressed his belief that the RA government’s steps to improve the infrastructure will give a new impetus to the progress of this sport in the country. Alexander Ceferin added that UEFA officially supports the joint bid of Armenia and Georgia to host the World Youth Championship.
Thoughts were also exchanged on the European football championship held in Germany.
