The EU has confirmed it will send €3.5m in aid to Syria on Wednesday.
The announcement comes after Syria officially asked for assistance under a scheme designed to support countries hit by natural disaster by activating the EU’s Civil Protection Mechanism.
The bloc has also announced an initial €3m in aid to Turkey, after the country activated the EU’s Civil Protection Mechanism on Monday.
