The LA Galaxy defeated Armenian club FC Shirak 2-1 in a friendly on Saturday night at StubHub Center.
The Galaxy fell behind 1-0, but quickly tied it as newcomer Samuel punched it home after Omar Gonzalez headed the ball down into the box.
The Galaxy applied consistent pressure in the second half, finally breaking through when Gyasi Zardes found the corner of the net.
“I thought it was a good exhibition game,” Galaxy coach Bruce Arena said after his team pulled out a 2-1 victory in front of 12,447 at StubHub Center. “I thought Shirak played real well, put us under a lot of pressure, tested us. … They were very well organized, good pace on the counter, put our guys in some difficult situations, which was good.
