Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Court has extended the house arrest of Samvel Karapetyan, leader of the Strong Armenia party, by an additional two months.
The terms of the house arrest remain unchanged. Under the court’s ruling, Karapetyan is prohibited from communicating with individuals specified in previous court decisions issued within the framework of the criminal proceedings.
Criminal proceedings against Karapetyan began on June 19, 2025, when he was placed in pre-trial detention for two months on charges of publicly calling for the seizure of power and the overthrow of Armenia’s constitutional order.
The case was later expanded to include a money laundering charge.
In January 2026, the court replaced Karapetyan’s pre-trial detention with house arrest. In April 2026, the Anti-Corruption Court extended the house arrest by a further three months. The latest ruling prolongs the measure for another two months pending the ongoing criminal proceedings.
