The European Commission, the European Investment Bank (EIB), and Armenia’s Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure have signed a joint Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), formally launching advisory support under the EPIC (Eastern Partnership Investment in Connectivity) initiative.
The memorandum was signed in Brussels during the high-level launch event of the Connectivity Agenda Platform.
The initiative will support preparatory work for the strategic Akhurik–Kayan and Margara–Kayan road corridors, which are intended to connect border crossing points with Armenia’s national road network.
In the first phase, the EIB will provide advisory assistance aimed at defining the scope of the required studies and developing feasible solutions for the implementation of the road projects.
The projects are being carried out within the framework of the Armenian government’s “Crossroads of Peace” initiative. They are expected to contribute to the development of regional transport connectivity, strengthen Armenia’s role as a reliable transport and logistics hub, and advance the European Union’s Connectivity Agenda.
The memorandum was signed by Adrienn Király on behalf of the European Commission, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Kristine Ghalechyan on behalf of Armenia, as well as representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank.
