Armenia’s Constitutional Court has ruled that two of its members, Artak Zeynalyan and Vladimir Vardanyan, cannot participate in the examination of petitions challenging the results of the June 7 parliamentary elections.
In a procedural decision issued in response to an application filed by the New Force Reformist Party, the Court found that the participation of the two judges in the case was impossible due to perceived bias toward parties involved in the proceedings, their representatives, or other participants in the trial.
Artak Zeynalyan is a former member of the Republic Party, while Vladimir Vardanyan was a member of the Civil Contract Party. Both parties took part in the June 7 parliamentary elections through proportional electoral lists.
In a separate procedural decision, the Constitutional Court granted Civil Contract third-party status in the proceedings.
The Court has consolidated the appeals filed by seven political forces contesting the election results and appointed Edgar Shatiryan as the reporting judge in the case.
The hearings are scheduled to begin on June 26 at 11:00 a.m.
