Russia is prepared to provide a venue for the signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan and remains committed to supporting the normalization process between the two countries, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said on Thursday, TASS reports.
Speaking at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), Galuzin said Moscow stands ready to assist Baku and Yerevan in advancing key aspects of the peace agenda.
“As before, we are ready to facilitate the unblocking of transport and economic communications, the resolution of humanitarian issues, and to prepare and provide a Russian venue for the signing of a peace treaty,” Galuzin stated.
The senior diplomat emphasized that Russia continues to support efforts by Armenia and Azerbaijan aimed at achieving a comprehensive normalization of relations based on the trilateral agreements reached by the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan between 2020 and 2022.
According to Galuzin, Moscow views the normalization process as an important step toward ensuring long-term stability and cooperation in the South Caucasus.
He also highlighted the potential of the regional cooperation platform known as the “3+3” format, which brings together Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, Iran, and Türkiye.
Galuzin said the mechanism is intended to help address regional issues through cooperation among the countries of the South Caucasus and their neighboring states.
“The mechanism is designed to facilitate the resolution of regional problems by the countries of the region themselves and their neighbors, without destructive interference from outside,” he said.
