Pashinyan re-elected as Civil Contract Party’s candidate for PM

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has been re-elected as the Civil Contract Party’s candidate for Prime Minister following the conclusion of the party’s internal elections.

According to Pashinyan, both rounds of the internal vote have been completed and summarized, with no appeals submitted within the set deadline. He thanked the members of the counting commission, led by Hakob Arshakyan, for organizing the closed, secret-ballot voting process “at a high level and essentially flawlessly.”

Pashinyan also expressed gratitude to party members for once again placing their trust in him, allowing him to lead the party’s electoral list and be nominated as its candidate for Prime Minister.

“I thank the Civil Contract Board for remaining faithful to the party’s political traditions and for setting a new political standard in the Republic of Armenia,” he wrote.

Preliminary results released by the Civil Contract party show that Pashinyan secured an overwhelming 898 votes. Other candidates received significantly fewer votes, including Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan with 12 votes and Defense Minister Suren Papikyan with 8 votes. All remaining candidates received between one and three votes each.
