Armenian National Congress to take part in 2026 parliamentary elections, nominates Levon Zurabyan as PM candidate

The Armenian National Congress (ANC) has announced that it will participate in Armenia’s parliamentary elections scheduled for 2026, with party board vice-chairman Levon Zurabyan nominated as its candidate for prime minister. The announcement was made by ANC board vice-chairman Aram Manukyan.

Manukyan said the decision followed extensive internal consultations after the party congress held on December 14. He noted that the ANC board conducted multiple meetings with regional party structures and activists, held two board sessions, and convened a meeting of the Republican Council. Discussions focused on participation in the upcoming elections, the format of that participation, and the selection of the party’s prime ministerial candidate.

“All the decisions I am announcing have been coordinated with our party chairman Levon Ter-Petrosyan,” Manukyan stated, adding that the decision to take part in the elections and nominate Zurabyan was adopted unanimously.

Manukyan also emphasized that the ANC envisions its participation in the elections through the formation of a broad political alliance.

Levon Zurabyan, in turn, thanked the party for the nomination and the trust placed in him, stressing that he accepted the decision with gratitude and a strong sense of readiness.
