
Ambassador of Armenia to Greece Tigran Mkrtchyan held a meeting with Greece’s Minister of Tourism, Olga Kefalogianni, to discuss ways of intensifying cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism.
The discussions referred to the cooperation framework outlined in the protocol of the 6th session of the Armenian-Greek Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Industrial and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, including the organization of the first meeting of the Armenian-Greek Joint Committee on Tourism in Yerevan.
Ambassador Mkrtchyan thanked Minister Kefalogianni for her support of the Armenian-Greek State College of Tourism, Services and Food Industry, as well as for facilitating the training of the college’s students in Rethymno, Crete, during the summer.
The Ambassador also presented the international events initiated this year by the Tourism Committee of Armenia and stressed the importance of the participation of Greek state and non-state organizations.
Special attention was given to the availability and frequency of direct flights between Armenia and Greece. Both sides highlighted the growing number of carriers operating on these routes, which reflects the increasing mutual interest in tourism cooperation.
