US sees Caspian region as long-term strategic priority, Senior official says

The United States views the broader Caspian region — including the South Caucasus and Central Asia — as a long-term focal point for its foreign policy, a senior U.S. official said during the 6th Caspian Forum.

“It’s in our strategic interest to invest in and build on this region for many years to come,” said Caleb Orr, Senior Advisor to the Deputy Secretary and nominee for Assistant Secretary of the State Department’s Bureau of Economic and Energy Affairs.

Orr underscored Washington’s commitment to strengthening economic ties, energy cooperation, and regional stability, highlighting the importance of sustained engagement with countries across the Caspian basin.
