On August 11, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.
Mirzoyan briefed his Iranian counterpart on the outcomes of the August 8 meetings in Washington, including agreements on the unblocking and development of regional communications and the next steps in this process.
He stressed that, as repeatedly stated by the Armenian side in the past and reflected in the Washington Declaration, the operation of infrastructure — including projects to be built in Armenia in partnership with the United States — will take place within the framework of the countries’ territorial integrity, sovereignty, and jurisdiction.
Mirzoyan thanked Araghchi for his principled position regarding the Washington agreements.
The two ministers also exchanged views on preparations for upcoming consultations and high-level contacts between Armenia and Iran.
