France welcomes the announcement of the successful conclusion of negotiations on a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
France hopes the agreement will be signed as soon as possible.
“The normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, while respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of both states, should enable the South Caucasus to become a region of peace, integration, and cooperation, with open borders, for the benefit of the region’s populations,” the Ministry said.
The Armenian Foreign Ministry confirmed on Thursday that the draft “Agreement on Peace and Establishment of Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan” has been agreed upon and the negotiations have been concluded accordingly.
