Uruguay’s top legislators reiterate support for Armenia

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received the President of the House of Representatives of Uruguay, Ana Olivera, and House Vice-President Pedro Khisdonyan, who are on an official visit to Armenia.

The Prime Minister welcomed the visit of Uruguay’s top legislators to Armenia and emphasized the fact of warm and friendly relations between the two countries. Nikol Pashinyan noted that Uruguay has always stood by Armenia and the Armenian people in difficult situations, and our country attaches importance to the development and strengthening of cooperation in various fields.

According PM Pashinyan, the high-level mutual visits during recent years testify to the bilateral political will to expand cooperation. Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the need to develop inter-parliamentary cooperation on international platforms, as well as the deepening of ties in the fields of economy, tourism, culture and sports.

Ana Olivera noted, in turn, that Uruguay stands in solidarity with Armenia and the Armenian people. The President of the House of Representatives of Uruguay emphasized the development of relations with friendly Armenia in different directions, adding that the parliamentary cooperation is at a high level.

The interlocutors discussed issues related to the Armenia-Uruguay cooperation agenda.

Reference was made to the discussions on the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace treaty, the Armenian Government’s housing program for forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno Karabakh, and other issues of mutual interest.
