The Kremlin has said that despite Russia and Azerbaijan holding different positions on the war in Ukraine, those disagreements should not overshadow bilateral relations, TASS reports.
Speaking at a briefing, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov acknowledged that Moscow and Baku have differing views on the situation in Ukraine but stressed that Russia takes a pragmatic approach to such differences.
“We have close relations with a number of countries that hold positions we categorically disagree with. Yes, this is an area of disagreement,” Peskov said.
“At the same time, we do not believe this should cast a shadow over our bilateral relations. We take a pragmatic approach,” he added.
Peskov emphasized that Russia intends to continue strengthening ties with Azerbaijan.
