
Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan met with United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo on July 13 in New York, on the sidelines of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.
Abisoghomonyan outlined Armenia’s efforts to further strengthen peace in the South Caucasus, emphasizing the importance of developing transport infrastructure and advancing regional connectivity projects to unlock the region’s full economic potential.
The two officials also discussed the UN80 reform process. In this context, the Armenian deputy foreign minister underscored the importance of ensuring the continued effective functioning of UN bodies in the areas of development cooperation, human rights protection and prevention.
Abisoghomonyan and DiCarlo also reviewed preparations for the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the Convention on Biological Diversity, which Armenia will host in October.
The meeting additionally included an exchange of views on a range of international security issues.
