Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has confirmed earlier reports that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will visit Armenia in the coming days.
Speaking to journalists after a Cabinet meeting, Pashinyan said one of the key items on the agenda of von der Leyen’s visit to Yerevan will be facilitating Armenian agricultural exports to the European Union market.
He noted that Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan recently participated in a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels, helping create conditions for new opportunities in this area.
“There is a possibility that Armenia will receive exceptional opportunities in this regard. I hope that we will be able to finalize the relevant project with the President of the European Commission, and during her visit to Yerevan we will make a joint announcement on the matter,” Pashinyan said.
Addressing regional cooperation, the prime minister stressed that Armenia would inevitably become integrated into regional initiatives within the framework of the TRIPP project.
“It is time for the countries of the South Caucasus to think of the region as a single space with many shared interests. Of course, every country has its own national interests and vision, but I believe we are also united by a broad range of common interests, and we should continue working in that direction,” Pashinyan said.
