As part of the commemorative events in the United Kingdom marking the 111th anniversary of Armenian Genocide, Armenia’s Ambassador to the UK, Varuzhan Nersesyan, participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Eternal Flame Khachkar Memorial in Ealing, joining members of the Armenian community in remembrance.
The ambassador also took part in the annual wreath-laying ceremony at the Cenotaph in central London, alongside parliamentarians representing political parties from across the United Kingdom.
In his remarks, Nersesyan emphasized the enduring importance of remembrance, describing it not only as a tribute to those who were lost, but also as a commitment to vigilance against hatred, denial, and the recurrence of such crimes.
He highlighted Armenia’s leading role in advancing the global genocide prevention agenda, including its efforts within the framework of the United Nations to strengthen international recognition, commemoration, and early warning mechanisms.
Referring to the lessons of the Armenian Genocide, the ambassador underlined Armenia’s continued commitment to promoting dignity, justice, and the prevention of mass atrocities worldwide.
