Train derails in Russia, injuring 22 people

At least 22 people were injured Friday when a passenger train derailed in the Ulyanovsk region, about 900 km east of Moscow, regional authorities said, adding that there were no fatalities.

Seven carriages of the train traveling from Chelyabinsk, in the Urals, to Moscow derailed in the accident, which occurred early Friday, according to regional governor Alexei Russkikh.

The derailment happened near the Briandino station, about 70 km from the city of Ulyanovsk, Russkikh said on Telegram, adding that he had gone to the scene.

The train was carrying 412 passengers.
