Scotland’s busiest railway station is closed all day after a major blaze in which part of a building next door to it collapsed last night, the BBC reports.
No trains will run to or from the high-level platforms at Glasgow Central Station, while trains that run through the low-level platforms will not call there.
Travel disruption is expected to last throughout the day with “no estimate on when the station will reopen”.
The alarm was raised with reports of a fire in a vape shop in Union Street at about 15:45. No-one has been reported to be injured
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service says nine appliances and three high-reach vehicles remain at the scene
The fire took hold of the Victorian buildings neighboring the station and the dome at one corner collapsed
However, Network Rail said it had not identified any significant damage to the station itself
