
The Israeli military launches new strikes on Tehran and Beirut, attacking what it calls “military targets,” the BBC reports.
“The IDF is currently conducting simultaneous targeted strikes against military targets in Tehran and Beirut,” IDF said in a statement.
The IDF’s Arabic-language spokesman Avichay Adraee said “a wave of extensive airstrikes” was underway.
The strikes came about an hour after the IDF issued an “urgent warning” to people in Beirut’s southern suburbs and in dozens of villages, calling for them to evacuate. The IDF had said it was targeting command centres and storage facilities belonging to Hezbollah.
Meanwhile, the US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was hit by two drones, seemingly from Iran.
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense confirmed that the US embassy in Riyadh was attacked by two drones.
In a statement shared to X, the ministry said this resulted “in a limited fire and minor material damage to the building.”
The US Mission to Saudi Arabia issued a shelter in place notification for Jeddah, Riyadh and Dhahran, and said it will limit non-essential travel to any military installations in the region.
Iranian state media say a command building at a US air base in Bahrain has been destroyed – the US has not commented.
On Monday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said “the hardest hits” on Iran are “yet to come.”
He was speaking after Donald Trump said the war was the “last, best chance” to stop the “sick and sinister regime” in Iran.
The US and Israel struck Iran on Saturday, killing Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has retaliated with a wave of attacks across the region.
