EU officials visit Armenia ahead of landmark summit and commissioner’s trip

Senior European Commission officials paid a working visit to Armenia to review progress in deepening bilateral ties, ahead of Commissioner Marta Kos’s planned trip on 19–20 March and the first-ever EU–Armenia Summit.

The talks assessed implementation of the new Strategic Agenda for the EU–Armenia Partnership, which builds on the long-term Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Brussels and Yerevan.

Regional connectivity – spanning transport, energy and digital infrastructure – was at the center of discussions. Officials focused in particular on support for the Armenian government’s “Crossroads of Peace” initiative and how it could align with wider cross-regional connectivity plans. Possible EU backing for jointly identified priority projects was explored, with both sides highlighting economic resilience and expanded trade and mobility as shared objectives.

Participants also confirmed the final structure of reforms and investments under the Resilience and Growth Plan for Armenia. This includes a second instalment worth €202.5m, previously announced by Commissioner Kos during her September 2025 visit.

The EU further reiterated its commitment to supporting democratic resilience in Armenia, with an emphasis on safeguarding the integrity of the country’s forthcoming electoral process.
