Armenia elected to UNESCO World Heritage Committee for first time

Armenia has been elected a member of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for the first time, during the 25th session of the General Assembly of States Parties to the Convention for the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.

In the voting round for the available open seats, Armenia achieved the strongest result among candidates, securing 105 votes out of a possible 161.

By joining the World Heritage Committee, Armenia reaffirms its dedication to the protection, conservation, and restoration of cultural and natural heritage. The country also pledges to contribute actively to the advancement of the foundational principles of the World Heritage Convention and to strengthen global cooperation in this field.
