Aragatsotn Diocese clergy, including Primate Mkrtich Proshyan, detained

Five clergymen of the Aragatsotn Diocese, along with the Diocesan Primate Bishop Mkrtich Proshyan, have been taken into custody, attorney Ara Zohrabyan reported. According to Zohrabyan, searches were conducted at their residences prior to the detentions.

The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin confirmed that the detained clergy — Rev. Fr. Parren, Rev. Fr. Manuk, Rev. Fr. Hayk, Rev. Fr. Mkrtich, and Rev. Fr. Ghevond — are currently at the Yerevan Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee. Bishop Mkrtich Proshyan, the head of the Aragatsotn Diocese, is also being held there.

Further details regarding the grounds for the searches and detentions have not yet been released. The Mother See has not issued an official statement on the reasons behind the investigation.
