UK PM Keir Starmer is expected to welcome Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at Downing Street this morning, the BBC reports.
Ahead of Friday’s summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, Starmer says there is a “viable chance” of a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.
According to the BBC, the high-visibility meeting at No 10 will be a carefully co-ordinated show of support from the UK.
Trump says there will be “very severe consequences” if Putin does not agree to end the war in Ukraine, after the US president spoke with European leaders yesterday.
Zelensky said the US was “ready to support us” while German Chancellor Merz said Trump agreed to put more pressure on Putin if a peace deal is not achieved.
