Peace with Azerbaijan and US-run corridor is a win for all sides — including regional powers Russia and Iran, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in an interview with Fox News.
The Prime Minister said he does not expect pushback from Russia and Iran on the US-brokered peace deal and transit corridor with Azerbaijan.
Nikol Pashinyan said the agreement and joint declaration signed in Washington could bring “tangible and unprecedented” benefits not only to Armenia and Azerbaijan, but also to Iran, Russia, Türkiye, and the wider international community.
Speaking to Fox News a day after the accords were signed, Pashinyan noted that once implemented, the deal could give Iran direct railway access from the Persian Gulf to the Black Sea and establish a railway link between Iran and Russia for the first time via the South Caucasus.
“If we focus on the economic side of this agreement, Russia and Iran will have very important, very tangible benefits,” he said. “From the South Caucasus, we currently have no railway connecting Iran with Russia. This agreement could change that.”
Pashinyan described the deal as a potential “crossroads of cooperation” and “crossroads of peace,” echoing the name of Armenia’s “Crossroads of Peace” project. He stressed that Yerevan’s aim is not to provoke disputes or escalate tensions, but to foster stability, sustainable development, and both economic and political cooperation.
“This is a very important and very convenient platform for that,” the prime minister added.
