Israel says it has struck a “military target” in “the area of the presidential palace in Damascus,” the BBC reports.
It earlier said it hit the headquarters of the Syrian military in the city – one civilian has been killed in the attacks, at least 28 are wounded, the Syrian health ministry says.
Israel says it is trying to protect members of the Druze community in south-west Syria, where there have been deadly sectarian clashes.
The strikes on Damascus follow days of Israeli attacks on the Suweida region in south-west Syria.
Syrian reports suggest a ceasefire has been agreed in Suweida, but Israel says it’s “increasing the pressure and pace of the strikes” in the area.
