Armenia will resume full participation in CSTO after it gets concrete answers to questions raised – PM

Armenia will resume full participation in the Collective Security Organization (CSTO), when it gets concrete answers to questions raised, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at the Global Armenian Summit.

“We have suspended our membership in the CSTO not only because the organization fails to fulfill its security obligations towards Armenia, but also because, in our opinion, the CSTO creates threats to the security of Armenia and to its future existence, to Armenia’s sovereignty and statehood,” the Prime Minister said.

He said Armenia will resume full participation in the CSTO, when it gets concrete answers to questions raised.

“Two years have passed since we made these arguments, and the answers have not only not been given, but it is already obvious that they will not be given. Even if it is not obvious, unless these answers are heard, the Republic of Armenia will be moving further and further away from the CSTO every moment. And there is an expression -“point of no return” – and if we have not passed it, then there is a high probability that we will pass that point. And no one will have a legitimate reason to accuse us of that,” Pashinyan concluded.
