Blinken told G7 foreign ministers that Iran could attack Israel within 24 hours

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken told the G7 foreign ministers that Iran and the Shiite movement “Hezbollah” could launch an attack on Israel within the next 24 hours, Axios portal reports.

In the conversation, the US Secretary of State emphasized that mitigating the consequences of a possible attack would be the best way to prevent a large-scale war in the region.

Sources say that Blinken is convinced that Iran and Hezbollah will attack the Jewish state, but it is not clear what exactly that step will be. He noted that the United States is trying to limit this attack and then soften Israel’s possible response to it.

It is also noted that Blinken said during the conversation that the American administration felt before the assassination of Haniyeh that the parties were closer than ever to concluding a cease-fire.

Earlier, the State Department reported that Blinken had a telephone conversation with the G7 foreign ministers, where he discussed the urgent need to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East.
