French Armenian actor Charles Gerard dies aged 92

French Armenian actor Charles Gerard, a great friend of Jean-Paul Belmondo, with whom he played regularly in the cinema, died Thursday, September 19 at the age of 92, AFP reports.

Charles Gerard died Thursday afternoon in a hospital in Paris.

Born on December 1, 1926 to Armenian parents, he was recognizable by his singular nose – crushed by Jean-Paul Belmondo during their first meeting on a boxing ring in 1948.

Charles Gerard, whose real name was Gérard Adjémian, first worked as director in the 60s, before becoming an actor in the 70s, in “Le Voyou” by Claude Lelouch.
