Democracy should be Armenia’s No1 visiting card – Prime Minister

Democracy should be Armenia foreign policy’s number one visiting card , Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan says.

According to him, it’s our task to show the world that democracy in Armenia is irreversible, because “it is anchored on people’s consciousness and aspirations, not on a particular person or political circle.”

Addressing the annual meeting of the MFA central apparatus and the heads of Armenian diplomatic missions abroad, the Prime Minister said this information is an indispensable tool to make Armenia interesting to the contemporary world, where everyone is speaking about the crisis of democracy.

“Pan-Armenianism” is another principle the Prime Minister attached importance to. He further elaborated: “One of the most important of our foreign political complexities and complexes is the perception of a small nation, a small state, which often finds reflection on all levels pf social and political life – from routine life to foreign policy.”

Therefore, he added, overcoming the complex of being a small nation is of vital importance. As a solution, the Prime Miniter offers Armenian Ambassadors to present themselves to the country of their accreditation as representatives of the whole Armenian nation, not just of a small political elite or even a small country.

“All conditions and prerequisites are there for this, because the Armenian government enjoys similar support in Armenia and Diaspora,” Nikol Pashinyan said, adding that the government aims to erase the borders between the Diaspora, Armenia and Artsakh.
