Azerbaijani MFA calls the recognition of Karabakh’s independence by Louisiana “provocation”

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has commented on the resolution adopted by the Senate of Louisiana, recognizing the independence of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic.

“Such actions of legislators at the state level are provocative and are intended to damage the peace process,” Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Spokesman Elman Abdullayev said, Azeri media report.

The Louisiana State Senate passed a resolution yesterday, recognizing the independence of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic (NKR), and calling on the U.S. President and Congress “to support the self-determination and democratic independence of Nagorno Karabakh.”
