
An Armenian Ministry of Defense delegation led by Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Artur Yeroyan, held a meeting at NATO Headquarters in Brussels as part of a working visit on June 10-11.
The delegation met with Piers Cazalet, Head of the Defense and Security Cooperation Directorate, to discuss current programs and future prospects for cooperation in the field of defense.
During the visit, the Armenian delegation also participated in a meeting of the Executive Academic Board of the European Security and Defense College (ESDC), held at the headquarters of the European Commission.
At the event, Major General Yeroyan presented the reforms being implemented in military education and training as part of the ongoing transformation of the Armenian Armed Forces.
Presentations were also delivered by Major General Arsen Mangasaryan, Commandant of the Vazgen Sargsyan Military Academy, and Tigran Harutyunyan, Coordinator of the Armenian Ministry of Defense’s cooperation with NATO and the European Union in the field of military education.
Representatives of the European Security and Defense College highly praised the reforms being carried out in Armenia’s military educational institutions and underscored the importance of expanding cooperation, particularly within the framework of the EU Military Erasmus Initiative (EMILYO).
The Executive Academic Board endorsed a proposal to grant associate partner status within the College to the National Defense Research University of the Armenian Ministry of Defense and the Vazgen Sargsyan Military Academy. The proposal has been forwarded to the College’s Steering Committee for final approval.
The discussions highlighted the growing cooperation between Armenia and European security and defense institutions, particularly in the areas of military education, professional development and defense reform.
