De Wever congratulates Pashinyan, highlights growing Armenia-Belgium ties

Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever has congratulated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the victory of the Civil Contract party in Armenia’s parliamentary elections and the renewal of public confidence in his leadership.

In a congratulatory message, De Wever said that, on behalf of the Belgian government, he wished to extend his warm congratulations on Pashinyan’s electoral success in the June 7 vote.

The Belgian prime minister said the elections once again demonstrated the Armenian people’s commitment to democratic values and institutions.

“I would like to commend the citizens of Armenia for their broad participation in democratic processes and for their belief in their country’s future,” De Wever said. “Their choice reaffirms Armenia’s democratic path at a time when democracy, stability and respect for the rule of law are more important than ever.”

De Wever also recalled his meeting with Pashinyan on the sidelines of the European Political Community Summit in May, describing it as an excellent opportunity to reaffirm the friendship between Belgium and Armenia and their shared commitment to peace, stability and prosperity.

He further referred to the recent opening of Belgium’s embassy in Yerevan, calling it an important milestone that reflects the deepening bilateral relationship and Belgium’s long-term commitment to Armenia.

The Belgian prime minister said he looks forward to continuing cooperation with Armenia in the coming years, particularly in supporting lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus.

“Belgium remains committed to strengthening its partnership with Armenia and deepening our cooperation across a wide range of fields, including political dialogue, economic cooperation, innovation, education and people-to-people exchanges,” the message said.
