Grateful for friendship and partnership over years: Pashinyan to Trudeau

Armenian Prime Mimister Nikol Pashinyan has expressed gratitude to Canada’s former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

“Grateful for the friendship and partnership over the years,” Pashinyan said in a message to Trudeau on X.

“Your dedication to democracy, human rights and global cooperation has made a lasting impact. Armenia will always value your support and its strong ties with Canada. Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors!” PM Pashinyan wrote.

Mark Carney was sworn in as Canada’s new prime minister at a ceremony in the nation’s capital today.

Speaking briefly to reporters as he arrived, Carney said of his government: “we’re going to get straight to work.”

It comes after Justin Trudeau officially handed in his resignation earlier this morning, and thanked Canadians “for trusting me, for challenging me.”

Carney replaced Trudeau as the leader of the Liberal Party at the weekend, after being voted in by party members in a landslide victory.
