Three dinosaur skeletons from the Jurassic period were sold at a London auction for a total of 8.4 million pounds on Thursday, December 12, Reuters reports.
Christie’s offered an adult and juvenile Allosaurus, sold as a pair for 8.1 million pounds (10.3 million US dollars) and a Stegosaurus skeleton, sold for 4.2 million pounds (5.4 million US dollars).
All three were mounted and on display at Christie’s London showrooms the day before the “Jurassic Icons: Allosaurus & Stegosaurus” auction. The skeletons were excavated in Wyoming.
In July, a Stegosaurus fossil found in Colorado fetched a record $44.6 million at a Sotheby’s auction.
