Armenian FM briefs Finnish officials, experts on foreign policy priorities

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan participated in a roundtable discussion at the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended by Foreign Ministry officials, civil society representatives and experts.

Ararat Mirzoyan presented the main priorities of Armenia’s foreign policy and the efforts towards strengthening the country’s independence, sovereignty and resilience.

The Minister touched upon the opportunities offered by the development of new, ambitious partnerships and the prospects for cooperation with international organizations. Minister Mirzoyan emphasized that despite the existing challenges, the Armenian government continues the democratic reforms and active cooperation with like-minded partners in this direction.

The attendees showed interest in the dynamics of deepening of the Armenia-EU partnership, discussions on the development of a new agenda, as well as the public sentiments regarding the existing prospects.

During the discussion, thoughts were also exchanged on regional issues. Ararat Mirzoyan touched upon the current security situation in the South Caucasus, presented the latest developments in the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, emphasizing the clearly expressed political will of the Republic of Armenia to sign a peace treaty.

Minister Mirzoyan noted: “Armenia is at a unique crossroads, and our government has proposed the “Crossroads of Peace” concept aimed at effectively unblocking regional communications and ensuring sustainable economic development.”
